Your logic: this statement is true because I say it is.
Zkeys don't "inject cash into the economy", nor are they a gold sink. Let's not derail the thread with further discussion there though.

How do people even trade more than 1750 ecto anyway? :\ That's a heck of a lot of trust ^_^.

It's no different than MOX devaluing gold six months ago. If you want to discuss in detail, there's another active thread. My point is simply this: if you make an assertion, back it up. "Because I said so" doesn't work on children, much less adults.

Placeholders. Buyer passes over 1500e + armbraces/pets and buys the placeholders back for ecto. What this means is that you either have to work a deal that trades the placeholders at cut rate values to compensate for the hassle, or own at least twice as much in real value as you bid.

I think they are going up because of aprils HoM update coming up. No ones too sure what is going to happen.

I'm still hoping for mini kunvie for 4th year minis.

Once gw2 comes out (depending on how good the rewards are) these items will be worth their weight in gold cause many will still want to max these titles in gw1 so they can reap the rewards in gw2
And you are basing this on speculation that whatever bonus Anet gives in GW2 is going to be worth going back and wasting that time to build those up. I don't see them doing this as that would get around and people would put OFF BUYING GW2 until they had fulfilled their needs in GW1 for the bonus or reward. I know that's what I would do if the reward were high enough.

I speculate that the bonus is going to be nothing more than a TITLE with some bonus ITEM of LOW value but powerful in the beginning of the game. Kinda like the bonus items we got from buying the PRE-ORDERS, bunch of junk you wouldn't use in the middle or end game, but, still kewl LOOKING (I love my icy blue scythe on my newbie dervisher), but, hardly something I'll use down the road when I want ultimate POWER. Or the kewl LOOKING Elementalist Staff with the MOVING HOURGLASS that is powered by all the casters MAIN attribute which many of us rarely use like ENERGY or FAST CASTING etc. etc. They are neat little gimmick items and great for outfitting our heroes until we can get something better.

There is no way in hell though Anet can give anything of great quality and reward for filling out HOM as that will cause jealousy and contempt and hurt their sales of GW2. So, whatever it is will have to be moderate and nothing that important to anyone else except for those with epeen brain cells. Something like a HOM title in GW2 wouldn't phase me at all as long as it didn't give any bonuses to combat or loot aquiring advantages.

Factions and NF collectors edition are still available in some stores. I saw both of them when I was in Poland last week, they were still with a standard price.

I think as GW 2 comes closer and closer people just dont care about money anymore and are starting to spend a lot to get stuff that they might be able to get back in GW 2. I myself got a kuunavang from a friend - a while back. I thought it was the coolest mini ever (it still is) and it probably the most unique. I ded it and kept it. Though, in combination with its noises and the yeti noises I might just win for most annoying person >_<

By the sounds of this my Kunna should have a fat gold aura around it rather than a green one

Some weirdo stuff goin' on with a couple of these. I was in Kamadan D1, and saw a seller trying to get 30e for an undedicated destroyer, and 100k+4 ecto for an undedicated asura.

WT BUY-ers in the same district were trying to buy asura for 25-35k.

So, is one of them waaaayyy off? Is this thread driving the market nuts? Are people suddenly chasing minis for the hall? Or is the real price for one of these less common minis really somewhere between 25k and 100k + ecto--and no one really knows the right market value?

Curious about how this develops.

Thank you for posting - I'm so glad you haven't treated me as an idiot.

In the matter of rare minipets, the xunlai tournament has allowed more of the playing population to gain relatively large amounts of cash by selling keys to the uberleet wannabe GWAMMs who farm ecto repetitively. (Can you tell I'm annoyed? perhaps its my fault for not being clear in the first place.)
Once they have gained this cash, they look around for things that they want that they once couldn't afford - tormented weapons, voltaic spears, minipets etc. This pushes up demand while supply remains constant or decreases. Perhaps this isn't strictly inflation - but the word served for my purposes.

Prices are very fluid for minis at the moment. I don't think people know how much to ask so they ask high.

All I know is that when the year 2012 hits, Kuuna prices should plummet. GW2 should raise the price of all minis if the HoM reward is good enough, but 2012 is the Chinese Year of the Dragon.
Once the celestial kuunavang minipet hits the market, the original will lose a lot of interest.

whawhawhat?! GW still alive by 2012? If the apocalypse doesn't get to it, I assume lack of any player interest will have killed off the game by then. Although I can only assume the reason why kuuna and the asian minis are all skyrocketing is price is paranoia over GW2 more than anything.

Let's say hypothetically A-net stated that the white minis are going to have the most benefit in GW2, then all the asian minis and such will plummet in price and then mini mandragors are going to be bought up like hotcakes XD. Again, I think it's player confusion on what their minis will do in GW2 that makes some people go "hmm, people don't know what the minis will do in GW2, let's just say that rarer=better and watch prices skyrocket."

Just start buying Varesh, Certadon, Gray giant, Asura. They will become very rare very soon. Double your money or more within a few months......... The supply around is limited and about to be all bought up.

Just my suggestion.

And also don't put all your gold into minis.....Remember to diversify.

I'd rather have a lifelike Kuuna than a yellow-glowing starry one. Same goes for the Pig: I only got the Celestial one to put in in my HoM, yet the normal Pig is my travel companion.

If anything, the CE Kuuna will get more in demand, because everyone will have a Celestial Dragon in 2012, and only a select few will have the far more rare CE one.

Really interesting data there. Thanks so much for compiling it. :-)

I started this little bit of research last week after I noticed that prices of undedicated kuunavang Minipets had started going through the roof since I last looked. There seem to be plenty of people selling them, but prices are going up and up with gathering speed.

As a result I looked through the minipet pricing guide and wrote down all the prices for which mini kuunas had been sold since October 2006. I then averaged out the monthly cost and charted them using excel. I was hoping to get an idea of where prices are going, but the curve is changing so rapidly its difficult to tell.

All the prices I've quoted are cash totals rather than 100+e to try and accomodate the fluctuating ecto price over the last 2 1/2 years so if I've got the totals slightly wrong, my apologies.

I've highlighted the two dates that have affected minipet prices in general. First, the patch that allowed you to display your prized mnipets in outposts rather than just out in the wilds and second, the ability to dedicate minipets at the hall of Monuments. Without these two events, I think minipet prices would have stagnated long ago, though the common pets have reached saturation now.

I hope people find this data useful (or interesting) and please comment on it either positively or negatively.

Cheers,

Nuclear_herring

That always happens with limited miniatures. They keep increasing in price until there are so many that doesn't matter how many people want to buy one, no one sells them anymore.

just an fyi, ded prices are always tied to unded ones. It's not very logical in this case, but true. to give you an example i sold a ded kuunavang for 100+15 last night and traded another for an unded black beast a few minutes ago. The fact is, the limited minis will continue to increase in price, until the release of gw2, at which point it is very likely that mini prices will drop like a rock.
I'm fairly new, so very unhappy about the increase in price of the asian minis >< but luckily i managed to get my kuuna for 55e flat before the price spike. it's just a game of catch up to see if i can trade my way to the majority of asian minis before the gw2 release...

Stupid question on the basis of the collectors edition. If you already have the regular edition of factions, can you still put in the key for a collectors edition if you get one?

Kuunavangs did drop the last week a fair bit - I hadnt logged on for quite several days, so when I saw a guy offering for 86e, I jumped on it . I guess once the new keys are out (dunno how many they would be tho, March had some surprises, no ;P) they'll go up again.
Oh well, I forgot how much I like this mini, I'll probably hold on to it
